Chandraghanta Devi : 3rd day of Navratri

Chandraghanta Devi : 3rd day of Navratri

Devi Chandraghanta is one who establishes justice and discipline in the world. She is a form of the goddess Parvati; her name means one who has a half-moon shaped like a bell. She is depicted as a serene goddess who is associated with peace, purity, and forgiveness.

She has ten hands, a radiant golden complexion, and a crescent moon on her forehead. She is often depicted riding a lion or tiger. She holds a variety of weapons, including a trident, mace, spear, bow, arrow, discus, and sword. Her fifth right hand is raised in Abhaya Mudra (reassurance), and her fifth left hand is in Varada Mudra. Her third eye is always open, signifying her readiness for battle against evil.

Worshipping of Maa Chandraghanta is in the morning after bath. Offer akshat, turmeric, kumkum, sandal powder, flowers, garland, incense, lamp, naivedya, fruits etc. and, chant the worship mantra. Before, Aarti to Maa, we offer sweets made of milk to Maa Chandraghanta.

Happy Navratri to all.
