Kushmanda : 4th day of Navratri
Kushmanda : 4th day of Navratri
Kushmanda is worshiped on the fourth day of the festival of Navaratri .Her name signals her main role: Ku means a little, Ushma means warmth or energy and Anda means cosmic egg. We chant her by the mantra "सुरासम्पूर्णकलशं रुधिराप्लुतमेव च। दधाना हस्तपद्माभ्यां कूष्माण्डा शुभदास्तु मे॥"
Maa Kushmanda has eight hands and is thus also known as Ashtabhuja Devi. It is believed that all the power to bestow Siddhis and Niddhis are located in her Jap Mala.
Deity Kushmanda possesses the power to live inside the blazing sun, hence the name Kushmanda. She is credited with creating a world with her divine and radiant smile.
Maa Kushmanda is the goddess of the green-hued Anahata Chakra, or heart chakra.
Today, we offer naivaidhya (offerings), including curd, milk, and halwa as prasad. Worshipping Lord Shiva and Brahma after the Kushmanda Puja is considered auspicious.
The fourth day of Navratri is associated with the colour green, which represents nature and conveys feelings of growth, fertility, peace and serenity. Wearing green on this day is believed to invite tranquillity and blessings from Goddess Kushmanda.
Subho Chaturthi to All.
