Skandamata: The Goddess of Vishuddhi Chakra
Skandamata: The Goddess of Vishuddhi Chakra
Today is 5th day of Navratri. Maa Skandamata is the fifth form of the Maa Durga ( Parvati) and is worshipped today.
The word "Skanda" means Kartikeya, Commander of Deities army; who is the son of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. In the form of Skandamata, portrayed her frequently riding a furious lion with 6 headed child Kartikeya (Murugan) in her lap; where Lord Skanda's six faces is symbolic of the six senses. Skandmata has four arms, rides a lion and is seated on a lotus. She also holds a lotus in two of her hands, carries Lord Kartikeya with the third hand and blesses all her devotees with the fourth hand.
On this auspicious day, we seek the blessings of Maa Skandamata, the nurturing goddess who represents strength, protection, and the power of unconditional love. By worshipped Skandamata, brings success, knowledge, and wisdom. Yellow is the color associated with Skanda Mata, and offerings of yellow clothes and flowers are made. Maa Shankamata is usually offered bananas as bhog.
Maa Skandamata is the deity of “Vishuddhi Chakra”., which represents love, compassion, and understanding. She also represents maternal love and fearlessness and blesses her devotees with protection and prosperity. Vishuddhi Chakra gets blocked because of the lies, illusions, delusions and confusions we keep on living and keep making them our reality, which in reality are not the truths at all. Purity of mind, thoughts, intentions, knowledge, actions is needed to cleanse this chakra. It does not mean that you only have to think positive, no it’s not like that. It’s about accepting your present state of evolution, accepting your present state of consciousness and embracing and accepting yourself as you are, and then working towards that which blocks your freedom to be a divine being.
Happy Panchami to all.
